WHAT WE DO  

Chaparral Electric is heavily involved with owners, general contractors, architects, and engineers in the arena of design-build.  The majority of our work since 1997 has been design-build. In this genre, we provide all of the basic elements that make up the electrical discipline for a particular job.  In addition to “in-house” AutoCAD 2008 capabilities, we provide lighting layouts and studies, power riser diagrams, product data and specifications, and special systems designs where applicable (via special systems design-build sub-contractor).  Under the supervision of a “third party” electrical engineer, systems applicability is reviewed in detail, load calculations are determined, and coordination/synthesis between electrical, mechanical and architectural disciplines is verified.  Most notable design-build projects our company has completed are the Bureau of Indian Affairs Phases I and II Headquarters; Route 66 Casino, Route 66 Hotel and Convention Center; Emcore West Phases I through IV solar cell manufacturing facility;  Advent Solar manufacturing facility; Journal Center Jefferson Green Office Building (LEED Gold); Eclipse Aviation Simulator Building; and Thornburg Financial Campus, to name a few.

Chaparral also understands the competitive bid process and has teamed with major construction firms on many high profile projects in the Albuquerque area.  Most notable plan-spec projects are Shamrock Foods Distribution Center; TriCore Reference Laboratories; Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute; University of New Mexico Health Sciences Facility; Isleta Hotel and Convention Center; and University of New Mexico Centennial Engineering Facility.
